It was a new term and a new term meant new students. Or, in Abby Irene's case, new students and old students. She was rather pleased with the fact that she saw repeat visitors to her class, though one had her just a touch boggled really.

As they entered, she leaned back against her desk and spread her hands. She'd been wise enough to put the copies of the syllabus so they could skip the 'passing out' trouble.

"Welcome to Basic and Thaumaturgical Forensics. My name, for those who don't know me, is Detective Crown Investigator Abigail Irene Garrett. For this class, you may refer to me as Doctor Garrett, DCI Garrett, or simply Professor Garrett as you prefer but kindly keep your 'missus' to yourself.

"In this class, we'll be covering the most simplistic of forensics that you can do with magick or with your own two hands and eyes. I realize that some of you might come from worlds with a great deal more technology than I am used to, but there are some things which thaumaturgy does well, and nothing that can't be served with a bit of common sense and a sharp eye.

"First class, of course, is introductions. Not to mention openings for teaching assistants, for anyone interested."

Brightly!

She's pretty good about tolerating chatter.

"Detective Crown Investigator Garrett," she repeated with a faint smile, "and I've been doing forensic sorcery for quite a few years. Being as I am one of three such experts in my field in the Colonies" and the only one actually working much "I can tell you that I have plenty to do, usually.

"From you, I'd like your name, your year, why you signed up for this class, and if you have any experience in forensics, thank you."

She was here after class for any number of questions.

TADA! ...someone forgot to actually type UP the syllabus before now even though it was in her head. *failboats*

Harper Finkle

"My name is Harper Finkle, I'm going to be a junior this year, and I signed up for this class because it sounded interesting. I don't have any experience in forensics, except for watching crime shows on TV."

Diana Hansen

Harper looked over her syllabus as she listened to Professor Garrett's lecture. She hoped her lack of magical ability didn't hurt her too much in this class.

"Diana, junior, because I've taken you before and I figured I'd come back, and I keep taking criminal justice where we do forensics." Diana rattled off.

Momoko Akatsutsumi

She hadn't really paid much attention to anything in the class title besides 'Forensics' when she'd signed up, but a quick glance over the syllabus ('Magick'? 'Ethereal'?) had Momoko reaching into her bag for her rarely used dictionary.

"Thaumaturgic," she mumbled. "Of, or relating to, the working of magic or performance of miracles..." MAGIC?!

Momoko would be over here, brimming with excitement and ready to take lots and lots of notes.

Momoko stood, all smiles, and gave a small salute. "Momoko Akatsutsumi, Junior! I signed up for this class because I had a Criminal Justice workshop last session and I liked it and I think it will be helpful when I go home."

She scratched her cheek, embarrassed, as she admitted: "My only experience has been Professor Gibb's workshop, though, and we didn't do too much with the actual forensics part."

That was... original.

"Well, we all start somewhere, hmm, Miss Finkle? Welcome to the class."

She didn't show her surprise; instead, she just nodded and gave the girl a smile.

"Glad to have you back then," she said with a quick nod of her head, "and I'm thinking I'll have to thank the professor who teaches Criminal Justice. Or perhaps just talk to him a time or two."

The girl was... certainly enthusiastic. She could appreciate that, even if it was definitely 'new'.

"I like to think my classes are useful," she said with a brief laugh, "and don't worry, we'll cover plenty of forensics here."

Eleanor Robinson

"Eleanor Robinson and I took your class last term. Since I am a Mage, I thought it might be useful to learn how to use magic for ..." how to word it? "Figuring things out in a situation."

"Thank you."

Savannah Levine

Of course Savannah was here and smiling at her teacher.
