SOC 201: Criminology Oct. 13th

For those of you just coming back from the Body Farm field trip, grab a bottle of lemon juice and hit the showers. I will be doing the same.

We will then begin class, please share your experiences at the Body Farm, and if you were unable to attend please ask questions of your classmates.

For next class, please study this handout.

Um, Saw a body that was in a bag and liquified. Body floating in water in a pool of its own enzymes. Threw up over the body that was liquified and then spotted a body covered in some kind of chalk. What kind of person would put another human being in those kind of conditions after they have already murdered them? Is it because they are not just satisfied with murdering the person they have to ruin a body to the point of almost no identifiable attributes, thank goodness for DNA but honestly, I think the body farm is a wonderful thing for scientists and researchers to have but I sure wouldn't want to work there.

Cameron quietly slips into his seat and listens to what everyone has to say.

John slips in behind him, looking tired.

Cameron notices John and raises an eyebrow as if to ask if he's alright.

John shrugs and writes Cam a note.

Talk to you later? Need some advice. He slides the note over to Cam.

Cameron reads the note and nods at John in agreement.

It's probably out of fear that if someone is capable of ID-ing the bod, that they'll also be able to trace down the murderer.

Or if you're dealing with serial killers, they're obsessed with the killing itself and with death. It's probably a psychological disorder that makes them do mutilate the body.

yeah i think so too. I mean honestly you would have to be totally deranged to do some of the things we saw at the farm. I understand the fear involved and the actions someone would take to hide a murder if it was a one time deal or a 'crime' of passion so to speak. but *shudders* that was some seriously messed up stuff.
