Criminal Justice: Wednesday, Period Three

Gibbs had left word for the entire class to meet him at the Main Campfire for today's class, rain or shine, however Gibbs was no where to be seen.

A few minutes later Gibbs was marching through the campfire shouting at everyone to get their gear.

"You took this course for a reason," Gibbs said trying to herd everyone to the danger shop. "So get your butts in gear and get to the danger shop... thing."

Yes. He knew class would end up in the shop. He felt a little exercise helped with the whole training thing.

"The dead body of a Petty Officer was discovered in a public restroom by an elderly lady," Gibbs stated as the marched along. "Police were called and found a Navel ID card on her personal belongings and then called us in to investigate. "

"Before you enter the crime scene you will learn and obey Rule #3. Always wear rubber gloves at a crime scene. As this is a public restroom you can expect to find a lot of items there. You will bag and tag everything of interest. Before you put a piece of evidence you will have one of your teammates take a picture of the evidence along with a numerical marker and a corresponding L-scale for reference. The room will be measured with every object taken a picture of for a possible recreation at a later time. "

When they reached the danger shop, Gibbs pushed the door open to reveal a women's public restroom which was... well not exactly sanitary. In the last stall there is a dead body of a woman wearing high heels and a bikini. Her head was stuffed in the toilet.

"The victim was Petty Officer Tiffany Jordan. Victim was participating in a Miss Spring Break competition when she was discovered dead. Her C.O. said she was deployed on the U.S.S. Monroe for the last fifty-seven days. Ship returned to port yesterday about this time," Gibbs stated. "Take pictures of the body, and her purse beside her before inventorying it. Make sure to grab the trash bags and anything lying on the floor. There are wet footprints on the floor. Make sure that we get those sketched and then get a sketch of the victims shoes and any witnesses or cops who walked in here. When we are done with the inside of the restroom we will then comb the outside. And when we are done with that, we will go to the victim's apartment. Next week we'll go over the evidence and see what it tells us."

Gibbs clapped his hands together to punctuate that he was done. "All right. Get started. Let's go!"

The OOC: To make things a little different, clues will be discovered randomly by students in the evidence searching threads. I'll be using good ol' RNG to determine which students find what.

[OCD is up!]

When she had a chance, Rose caught up to what seemed to be the teacher of this slightly insane class. "Professor Gibbs?" she asked. "I'm Rose Hathaway. I'm a new student in this class."

Whoa, a case, and so soon into classes! Chie hadn't exactly expected them to jump into the nitty and gritty without going over some other things first-- like ... maybe the tools. There were a billion things on that list! Okay, most of them were self explanatory, but even the science classes she took before went over the most simple things like tweezers or a flask or whatever.

Or maybe the teach was doing them a favor and skipping that part, because Chie wouldn't deny it was painfully boring more times than not.

Only as soon as they arrived, and Gibbs started talking, Chie began to wish that maybe they could have. Oh, this place was gross, and she was grimacing the entire time; not to mention there was the ... well, body; nevermind it was fake (oh god please say it is, came the afterthought), this was ... Alright, she was going to have to suck this up. She was totally on a murder case before! Not that she saw any corpses, and the circumstances were different, but the point was if she did this once she could do it again!

Or so she hoped. "Well," Chie thought aloud, giving herself words of encouragement. And also wiggling her now gloved fingers, because they felt weird at first. "Time to get crackin'."

Helen immediately started photographing the scene and sketching the footprints and victim's shoes. Then she went to do the same for anyone who had walked in the room.

Jennifer paused. She knew it was just a simulation, but this was still pretty graphic. She felt an urge to look away, even felt her breakfast trying to sneak back up on her.

She choked it down, and wasn't going to let herself get scared of this. She needed to be strong, and she would be strong about this.

She went for the trash, carefully lifting it out of the can.

Rush rush march march and listen at the same time, clutching the Crime Scene kit as they headed for the Danger Shop. Dinah was starting to get the idea that Mr. Gibbs liked to throw them off balance as much as possible.

Ben was pleased that the simulation had turned out so realistically. It wasn't like this was his first crime scene, so he blocked out the smell, pulled on gloves, and began collecting evidence.

He really needed to introduce Gibbs to the idea of forensics droids.

Ben was there, happy to answer any questions. He was glad he'd packed a bottle of anti-bacterial hand wash into his forensic kit for people to use after they'd collected evidence.

Because, yeah, that bathroom was nasty.
