Mad Kings & Queens, Week XIII [Monday, Period 4]

As the students came in today, they'd probably all be pleased to notice the lack of desks, the huge pile of pillows and blankets, and the television at the front of the room.

"Right," Ghanima said once they were all comfortable. "If you didn't learn anything this week about overthrowing a mad ruler and dealing with unconquerable odds - and make no mistake, that's what our friend out there was - then you need to retake this class and stay awake next time."

Voodoo hexes. Really

"Today we're supposed to cover Idi Amin Dada," she said, pointing to the stack of handouts by the door. "Take one when you leave. For now, we're going to watch a movie. It's called ~~the meta for~~ The Last King of Scotland, and it happens to be on the person we're supposed to be studying today."

"If you have no attention span and have somewhere important to be, like the clinic or a hot shower, then just take the handout and go. I'll see you next week."

Victoriously!

It's short, but if you goof off this week, Ghanima's going to come down on you like a ton of bricks.

There's pitchers of juice and a big bowl of fruit on a table, since she's pretty sure none of you have eaten properly in the last few days. Grab some food, curl up and take your mind off the zombies.

If they're there.

She's around, both before and after class!

Tahiri Veila

Given the evident easy day and the brevity of the lecture, Tahiri didn't have a hard time paying attention for a few minutes. She planned to just take the handout and leave, anyway.

Someone was still in a mood.

Savannah Levine

Savannah took the handout and tried to focus on the movie.

Someone was still worn out.

Savannah got some juice but her stomach wasn't unknotted enough for food yet.

Reno

Reno was there. Because if Reno wasn't there, he'd probably be phoning up Rude and telling him to put the phone down so that he didn't have to hear Reno screaming at the top of his lungs for the rest of his life.

There was a very good place to be, just then.

Oh, hey. A movie.

Ben Skywalker

Ben held the juice between his fingers but didn't drink. The guy in the movie looked a lot like Gavin...

"Master Atreides?" Ben said softly, walking up after class. "I apologize for missing last week. There was a small," war, "incident at home and we were under communication silence."

Liir Thropp

"'Incident.'" The bemused glance Ghanima gave him rather clearly indicated that she was aware it was a euphemism, but was willing to let it pass this time. "Well then, welcome back, Mr. Skywalker. I trust everything resolved itself satisfactorily?"

And if she was covertly checking him for signs of injury, well, it was understandable, considering what usually happened when her Jedi students had 'incidents' at home.

Liir was all about the watching and the listening this time. Especially after this weekend and especially when it was this guy.

Liir watched. And looked down at the handout every few minutes, straining his eyes a little to compare and consider.

He gave a little shrug. "It resolved itself," he said. "We have a new government now."

All signs of injury were carefully hidden under layers of clothing. Ben didn't like people to worry.

Yamanaka Ino

Ino's eyebrows were just... going to stay raised, yeah. Even though she was exhausted, and wanted a shower, and was now kinda confused.

Funny how Ghanima-sensei's comments about learning anything only really, you know, applied if you'd been around for the last week.

The movie got put on 'ignore it, it's background noise' and Ino spent more time reading the handout, and nibbling on fruit.

Jaina Solo

Jaina so far didn't seem to have any lingering trauma, and that was sort of freaking her out. She came to class and paid attention just like usual, except for the occasional glance to see if any gremlins were sneaking up on her.

Having finally listened to last night's radio, Jaina snuck Tahiri a little glance, just to make sure she was okay.

Eve Levine

Eve snagged a couple oranges and a glass of juice and settled down next to her daughter.

"Want a slice?" she asked, peeling the first orange and beginning to break it into pieces.

Savannah shook her head.

She didn't want to draw Ms. Ghanima's wrath by talking, but she knew that if she ate anything she would be sick.

Eve murmured the telepathy spell, the one that only really worked if the other person was close by and expecting it.

It's going to be okay now, Savannah. I promise.

Savannah had been expecting it and nodded. She murmured the spell -- even though she was really too drained to be doing it. Johnny would kick her ass if he knew.

I believe you, but Sean was dead. They were killing students and teachers. I was scared.

Any idea how he's doing? Eve asked. Doesn't seem like something anybody would take very well.

That kind of depended on what you meant by okay, but Tahiri tried for a little smile when she looked at Jaina. It might not have been completely convincing.

Not so much with the convincing, no. Jaina gave her a nod in response, fully intending to catch up with her sometime later.

Merlin

Merlin was also there. After abandoning Arthur to some interesting concoctions at the clinic that ought to keep him asleep and not attempting to run about.
