Care for Magical Creatures; Friday, Period 2 [ 02/20 ].

If Minsc was the type to notice coincidence, he would most likely find this very funny indeed. But, that morning, when he expected to wake up and go to class to teach about unintentional transformations into animals, he found himself...

...unintentionally transformed.

He'd probably laugh about this a lot come Monday.

As it was, though, the class would find themselves gathering in the classroom, Minsc already there, as a giant black bear. Of course, the purple tattoo on his head was still somehow there, and Boo was nestled quietly between his ears, so, if the students didn't recognize that it was him, he was very disappointed in them and would be convinced that they must have all had one too many hits on the head (that said a lot, from a man like Minsc) and were all terribly stupid.

On the board, Minsc had still trying to scribble something with chalk, using his paws, and got about halfway through something that looked vaguely like "Unintentio--" but gave up.

He roared at them a little, hitting his paw a few times on a space at the desk in the front of the room. Paw, paw, paw. This is where you papers I assigned last week go. And then he stalked over to the board, going up on his hindlegs, and started pawing the board too. Unintentio--. Unintentional transformations. It was on the syllabus. It was happening to their teacher right now. Discuss.

And then Minsc settled down, blinking his bear eyes at his class and waiting.

Arthur wasn't sure whether I don't want to talk about it was a good response to this entire situation.

He opted for the sane solution by pasting his the kingdom was just attacked by a gryphon/Merlin is dying of a horrible illness/my professor just turned into a bear, oh well, these things happen, let's move on and deal with it face firmly on and sitting back.

Arthur was going to declare himself mad for even thinking of dealing with this, but his teacher was currently a bear, and he wasn't, in fact, certain exactly how one went about dealing with this.

"If there's any help you need," he started, then shook his head, and left the sentence with the firm and secure sense of an ending period rather than a comma.

There was a short moment of silence as Arthur merely pursed his lips. Chivalry and common sense warred in his mind about the matter until one came out victorious.

"You are not," he said at last, "Mentioning this to anyone," and reached over to scratch it.

He wasn't completely sure how he'd even understood what Minsc had been on about. It was entirely possible he was just touching a live bear that was flailing a bit.

Still, he supposed it beat a gryphon.

Since the bear seemed to be satisfied, Arthur dropped his hand, reminded himself that he was Arthur Pendragon and he had practically invented the stiff upper lip, and, at last, nodded.

It seemed like the appropriate response. "Good luck, then," he offered.

There would have been another moment of consideration had Arthur allowed himself to dwell on the magic at work here and how it was clearly a dangerous thing, but in the interest of maintaining said stiff upper lip, he merely turned away.

He may have muttered "bugger," under his breath, though.

Leto frowned a little, wondering if this was some sort of test.

He had written a paper. It just felt odd to turn it in to a bear. Would Minsc accidentally eat it?

Eventually Leto leaned back in his chair, looking quite bored. The novelty of having your teacher turn into a bear wore off quickly.

Firekeeper... didn't actually have a problem understanding Minsc-the-bear.

Firekeeper did not have a paper. She did, however, have a short oral presentation that she reported to Minsc.

Firekeeper was very much not a bear. Wolf, yes. But not bear.

Arthur turned in a paper that showed both a) extraordinarily neat handwriting and b) a more than averagely firm grip on 'what happens when sorcerers are not only evil but also stupid and horrible at the same time'.

He managed to keep himself from using the word 'idiot' more than once, and the paper was rather extensive. Arthur was, as the local term went, a bit of a workaholic.

Even about the stupid things.
