Some of my friends and I are sort of beyond the beginner level in math. Is there any way we could talk you into opening up just a couple more spaces in your advanced class?

Perhaps. Who are you and why do you want in the Advanced Class? As it is Practical Application of Math, having too large a group would simply be, well, impractical. *wry* But of course, you will not be punished for being good at math! That's silly.

Well, I'm a big fan of chemistry and biology, which you need plenty of math for once you get into the advanced stuff, but you'd probably like my friend Sam better. She's planning on going into physics after high school. She's really disappointed that she couldn't get into your advanced class. So if you could even fit in one more opening to get Sam in there, that would be a huge favor.

OOC: How much do you know about Stargate, BTW?

*considers* Do you think she could come by class tomorrow? I would like to talk to her before I decide.

Ah, had a thought. If necessary, I could could give students who are sufficiently advanced an individual study plan with myself in an advisory role. But if it's only your friend Sam... Well, I won't promise anything, but I could probably handle 6 students.

I'll talk to her. Believe me, I'm sure she'll be by. She was so disappointed to learn she was too late to sign up for the advanced class.

But if you could see you way to maybe an individual study group, I'd be interested. Sam's the math whiz, but I'm pretty good at it myself. I know a couple of other people who might be interested too. But they're only maybes.

OOC: Oh, you so need to see SG-1! It's such a good show! But Sam is the astrophysicist genius of the series, and Janet's their doctor/biologist/chemist genius of the series. So naturally we were both pouting like mad about not getting a chance to sign up for advanced math. :)
