Criminal Justice Class 9
[Class info post. Use it to study previous classes for the test!]
*Tick stands at the lecturn, looking slightly frazzled. He's wearing an expression that suggests "Egads! Writing tests is hard!*
Hello, class! Remember, there will be a test on Thursday! I've been pretty lenient with absences and such, but everyone enrolled in the class has to take this test or they will be dropped from the class. [OOC: You don't have to actually take the test, but you will have to comment to the exam post by next Tuesday. Hey, there have to be some rules.] Notes from previous classes are always available, and most of the answers will come from your hearts if you truly dig Justice like the construction workers on the new Courthouse of the Future that I know you are!
In preparation for the test, I'm opening the floor to you! What questions do you have about Justice? Whatever questions you have, I'll answer them!
Oh, and this week's Extra Credit will be on the test.
*Waits patiently for questions.*

*can't think of a snarky enough question yet*

Yes, sir, Mr. The Tick, sir. How did you become involved with justice?
*sits back and waits, already giggling*

Does justice believe that the ends justify the means?
If a good thing is done in the name of evil, is it still good?

*During a free moment when the students are "studying."*
"Hello, Cam!" Tick whispers. "What can I do for you?"

"Hi, sir. I was wondering if you'd still let people sign up for your class this late in the semester."

Justice has been my mistress ever since.

If good is done in the name of evil, of course it's still good! If it weren't, it would be called evil! The trick is to stop the Evil after it does the good but before the good helps the evil. Or, alternately, the Good can stop the good done by Evil and replace it with their own good, making it double good since Evil is now out of the picture!
Follow that?

Oh, Professor Mr. Tick? Where did you get you gift for amazing metaphors. Did it, like, come with the suit?
no subject
Um, sure. Sure! Just write a short essay on your views of Justice. Why is it important to you? How do you celebrate it? Whatever you want! Have it to me by next Tuesday and you'll be considered all caught up!

He's not sure where the question came from.

I don't know if it would be a Travesty of Justice, Archie, because I'm not sure it would be Justice at all. Justice would be arresting the tyrant's supporters, possibly even providing them a chance at redemption. Maybe, under certain circumstances, killing the tyrant's willful supporters could be considered Justice (That is a Gray Area), but once you kill an innocent who - as you said - was unable to resist? Well, that's Vengence, chum. And Vengence isn't Justice!

There are sometimes when that's just not enough, though. Sometimes you can hear the Heart of Justice, calling out to you, telling you that you must take action now! There are just some things you have to do, but you have to be prepared to face the consequences... But if you get lucky and you do it right, it'll all be worth it.
This was, of course, the whole point behind the Civil Rights Movement. Were they criminals? Yep. Did they go to jail? Yep. Was it worth it in the long run? Seems to be.
Overall, though, this is all a bit of a Gray Area as well.
