Chemistry, Period 1, 10/31

The costume shop had gotten Tyler's order wrong, and (after swearing at the box for a good ten minutes) he decided to go with it. That was why he was leading class today dressed as a large purple rhinoceros from a children's TV program. He'd even slung a guitar around his neck for verisimilitude.

"Happy Halloween," came the laconic greeting, once the students had gathered. "We're doing a very complicated reaction today -- here, have a handout. The supplies are on the lab tables. You should probably work in pairs, and it's very important you remember the quality control role of your instructor."

A beat. "If you need help with the write-up on the experiment, there's a easier version at the table at the front of class."

He strummed the guitar once, stiffly. "Questions? Comments?"

Yes, he's dressed as Smoochy. He may have lost his mind. Talk, take notes, etc.

Yamanaka Ino

Ino, totally in her costume, just sort of... stared at Tyler-sensei. It was rather... horrifying.

Ino was here! And rocking it in her vampire costume.

She bounced a bit as she waited for a partner.

"Ino," Tyler greeted, guitar mercifully set to the side. "Nice get-up."

"Thank you," she chirped. "I'm all vampire-y and stuff today! Though blood still isn't that appealing, ew. What are you anyway?"

Besides traumatizing.

HAHAHA SMOOCHY!

"Smoochy," Tyler said, then realized how that might sound and blanched. "Kid's TV show. Costume shop hates me and I decided to go with it. Spread a little joy, all of that."

Ino was, well, giggling a lot.

"What were you planning on being then?"

"A zombie," Tyler shrugged. "Anyhow, hey, can I ask you for TAish assistance?"

"More walking dead!" That was gleeful, yes.

A beat.

"What sort of TAish assistance?" So suspicious.

"Science fair," Tyler explained, grinning a little at her glee. "I got permission to run one and I need to publicize it. Come by my office Monday and we'll ~~possibly handwavily~~ make posters."

Walking dead were totally awesome, come on.

"Oh," she considered that, "I can do that, I think. I've got class third period but I'm otherwise free."

Tyler did not dispute the awesomeness of the walking dead, no. Though the drummer at Caritas should tape on his nose again.

"Anytime that's good for you," Tyler said. "Come by late enough in the day and I'll probably be done making the posters, anyhow."

She laughed. "Aren't you supposed to be making me work 'stead of giving me ways out of it?"

"I'm just afraid that if you do it, there'd be glitter on the posters," Tyler joked.

Which was kind of rich, coming from a guy dressed as a purple rhinoceros.

Ino beamed. "A glitter explosion! It'd be fun!"

"... and somehow I'm more okay with making the posters myself."
