Detention - 10/4 - Saturday morning

Abby Irene had been working most of the evening in the Danger Shop and so her hair was a little bit out of sorts as the students walked in. Smiling, she straightened it with her hand before looking over the assembled.

"It seems that you young ladies and gentleman have proven to be unable to conduct yourselves properly in an academic setting. Thankfully, we are not living in my day and age and have been provided this lovely educational tool with which to perhaps correct as opposed to simply punishing such behavior."

"You will be attending a small party from my own world and it will be your duty to act as fits the circumstances."

Suit up, ladies and gents.

There are others, here, ladies and gentleman in beautiful, decadent clothing. Servers, dressed more plainly but still quite smart, wandered around with plates of hors d'oeuvres ~~of the completely moddable variety~~.

A blood-curdling scream was heard from some rooms away from the hall where everyone has been enjoying their evening. The sound places it in the west wing of the house.

He wandered around the hall greeting guests smiling and being a rather standard politician. He was dressed exceedingly well, if somewhat somberly.

The mayor's wife was dressed beautifully in a green gown that offset the copper highlights of her hair. She was somewhat younger than him, though not as young as she appeared, and was well-liked in New Amsterdam. It was obvious enough as she made her way between social groups, smiling and waving to everyone at least once.

A handsome young man stood near the corner and sipped at his wine with a pensive expression.

Duke Richard had his own social circle on one side of the hall. His position was a strange one: representative of the Crown and Duke of New Amsterdam, of course, but for those who felt New Amsterdam did not need a representative of the Crown, and even in some cases a Duke, certain relations were strained.

Duke Richard's wife was dressed the finest of those here, as befit her station as Duchess. Jacqueline reveled in it, though not immodestly so, and was a shining jewel of loveliness, appreciated wherever she went.

Hi!

Today's detention is a murder mystery, lightly lifted from Simon R. Green's Hawk and Fisher books because, well, I can.

Feel free to mingle with each other and post your own in the mingling thread. The NPCs are provided for entertainment and plot. The murder mystery thread certainly isn't mandatory, but it should be fun if you want to do it.

John got himself a snack and stood off to the side, noticing he wasn't the only one in the room avoiding actual mingling.

*g* He was totally my Jack Priest ^_^;;; even though he's not Jack Priest HERE because she hasn't MET Jack Priest yet yes brains.

But yay for unexpected silly casting!

Peyton rolled her eyes but put on the ball dress (http://www.marquise.de/en/1800/pics/1896_1.shtml) with the dark sleeves and bodice, figuring that was the best of a bad bunch.

The young man's eyes turned sharply to John as he approached before sliding back across the room. He sipped at his wine before stepping a touch closer.

"Good evening," he said evenly.

If she had to do this, at least she was going to mingle with the handsome men. So, she smiled and nodded at the incredibly attractive older man

I think it means that the HYM knows something and is totally sneaky!

Also? He's pretty. Damn.

Simon looked across the room to her thoughtfully before glancing at Mayor Elliot once. Then he moved towards her and bowed his head in greeting.

"Miss," he greeted her quietly.
