When the students came into the Danger Shop, it was set up to look like a martial arts dojo, complete with mats on the floors and mirrors on the walls.

"Good afternoon, class," Bond began after they had all arrived. "Now before we begin today's lesson, I would like to have a few words with you about expected standards of behaviour in my class. I will start off by saying that I am not in the habit of giving detentions, not only is there far too much paperwork involved for my taste, but also I am not being paid nearly enough to act as your drill instructor. However should any of you decide that your school experience isn't complete without making both my and your own lives difficult, you're best bet would be to ignore the following.

"Firstly, I expect you to show me the respect due to me as your teacher. I don't expect you to give me one hundred percent of your attention one hundred percent of the time, but I do expect you to at least be able tell me what I was talking to you about, and if I give you an instruction I expect you to follow it to the best of your ability. Secondly, I expect you to show Mr Darklighter respect as my proxy. Thirdly, I expect you to show respect for each other. Issues any of you may have with each other outside of my classroom are expected to remain outside my classroom, committing actions which would put your fellow classmates in danger through either stupidity or malice will not be tolerated, and if anyone decides to throw a punch outside of a sparring session, they can come down with me to Principal Winchester's office and explain why they couldn't have waited until they weren't under the direct supervision of a teacher to do so. Have I made myself clear?"

Bond waited for the assembled students to indicate he was in fact clear as crystal before continuing. "Now today we will be looking at first of our two classes on self-defence, in this case unarmed," he said. "Bearing in mind that I only have enough time to scratch the surface of the available material in this class, I would advise you to all do further research in your own time to expand on what I show you today. Now, the term martial arts collectively refers to the various disciplines of unarmed combat. However the techniques I'm going to show you today don't belong to any particular discipline, they're merely some of the ones I've found most effective."

Bond then proceeded to demonstrate a number of different throws, grapples, and blows on a holographic opponent. "Now, I would like you to all pair up and practice against each other, see what techniques work for you. The operative word being practice. Those of you with more experience try to pair with those with less, help them out."

"Well, get going."

Gavin didn't know much about martial arts but he did know about hand to hand combat. He figured he could fudge the rest.

Gavin was there, puttering around the classroom like a TA sometimes did.

Gavin bounced around on the balls of his feet, waiting for a partner.

Hurley stood, figuring it'd be better to let someone choose to partner with him rather than approach someone else.

This was going to be... interesting.

A little apprehensive about this kind of fighting (although she realized that she could probably fall back on her kick if need be), Turtle looked around for a particular kind of partner: one who was small like she was. And preferably another girl. It would be kind of cool to say that she beat a boy in practice, but the idea of getting to that victory just made her feel a little awkward.

Amber Atkins

Amber listened intently and just... didn't want to get in trouble ever.

Amber was ready, sure. She'd been practicing up on her self-defense so this couldn't be too hard, right?

Helen watched quite intently. She'd done a little of this with the priests, but not much.

Helen was not at all certain she wanted to do this. Perhaps no one would notice if she just stood quietly off to the side.

One day, Turtle thought as she watched the demonstration, she might be able to be more of a fighter like this. Unfortunately, she definitely wasn't feeling like today or any day soon was going to be that day.

OMG I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE.

Adam listened and observed the demonstrations, wishing that Tommy or Rocky was here with him. They were great sparring partners when it came to martial arts.

Ronan Nolan

Ronan eyed Amber. She looked a bit like she knew what she was doing; her movements had a bit of that practiced edge to it, maybe, he wasn't quite sure. Regardless, she looked like she could put up a challenge.

"Want to spar?" he asked, approaching, with a bit of a smile. He wasn't all that experienced, himself; he knew what he was doing, more or less, but he was better with a weapon -- a sword or a spear.

"Hey," she smiled. "Works for me." Amber hadn't expected to spar with a guy, but this was totally cool. She sparred with Murdock practically every week.

She faced off with Ronan, getting into position.

Ronan settled into a fighting stance of his own, smirking a little as he waved her toward him.

Ah, god, this guy probably knew how to kick ass good.

Amber came forward, grinding down on her jaw and she swung forward to throw a punch.

Ronan saw the swing coming, but misjudged his step so that he still caught it as a glancing blow off his shoulder; this threw his own punch off as he tried to counter, so he tried to step in and grab Amber's shoulders.

Holy damn, she hit him! But as he came in and grabbed her, Amber swung her foot in an attempt to knock him off his feet.

Andros

Andros looked around for a partner.

Unluckily for Ronan, Amber swept his feet out from under him. Unluckily for Amber, Ronan held on, which meant that she was going down with him.

As he fell, he tried to land, rolling, on his shoulder, to toss Amber off him.

She let out a small grunt as she went down, only to be tossed away and off of Ronan. That kind of fueled her and adrenaline pumping, Amber charged close again in an attempt to get him in an armlock.

It was certainly interesting to watch, after all.
