History of the Ancient World
Thursday 12:30-3:30 pm

Seimei strolled in, sipping from his tea. At his desk, he assembled his scroll for the class discussion.

Who was Hypatia of Alexandria?

Hypatia of Alexandria was the first woman to make a substantial contribution to the development of mathematics.

Hypatia was the daughter of the mathematician and philosopher Theon of Alexandria and it is fairly certain that she studied mathematics under the guidance and instruction of her father.

Alanna flips through her notes and notices a notation on the side. "She was the first major female mathematician?"

Draco squeezed his eyes shut for a second trying to recall his reading.

"She was the first recorded woman to make a contribution to mathematics."

Duce wanders into class, a bemused smile on her face. Bouncing into a seat, she writes down an answer and reads her history book. Or.. it looks like she's reading. Slowly. Very slowly.
