Lunch; Wednesday [ 07/23 ]

Chad was feeling pretty glad that he decided to go down to the cafeteria for lunch today, since it looked like there was meatloaf and mashed potatoes, which was a good meal when you were as hungry as Chad was feeling at that moment. He filled up his plate with a lot of that, and then went to go have a seat.

Worf took his plate of food with a look of mild distase before going to find a place to sit.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" He asked chad while nodding to a seat next to him.

Chad grunted in the negative as he shook his head. "Go ahead," he added, before a forkful of potatoes.

Worf sat down and poked at his food with a fork. "Thank you. I am Worf."

He then gave Chad a cursory glance.

"You are very tall. For a human."

"I'm Chad," he offered back and then shrugged his large, broad shoulders, "and I get that a lot."

"I'm sure," Worf said with a nod. "Were you genetically engineered?"

Worf had seen no mention of the Eugenic Wars in the recent history on island but that didn't mean that it wasn't possible.

Chad had never exactly thought about that, and he mulled over it as he chewed his meatloaf. "No," he said, "I don't think so. Just tall. Were you genetically engineered, or are you just a different species?"

Because even Chad would notice those head ridges.

"I am Klingon," Worf replied gruffly. "An alien species from another sector of this galaxy. Though I was raised by humans."

"Yeah? My boyfriend's an alien species from another galaxy, raised by humans, too, but he's not Klingon, he's Skrull." Chad said this all very conversationally, very idly, very deeply, most of his attention still going into consuming his food.

Worf raised an eyebrow at that.

"I have never heard of these... Skrulls," he replied. "Nor have I seen one. What do they look like?"

"I'm not...entirely sure," Chad admitted. "Ted's a shapeshifter, and so he usually keeps the shape of a human. He's got this green form with wings that he does sometimes, though, that might be it."

Worf nodded as he assessed that information. "Interesting. Was he aware of his heritage?"

"Nope," Chad said, shrugging a little again. "Not until more recently, I think."

"I shall have to meet him," Worf decided. "I shall find his perspective interesting."

Chad nodded. "I'll mention something to him, too," he offered. "He'd probably be interested, too."

"Thank you," Worf said stiffly as he took a bite of meatloaf and frowned. "What manner of food is this?"

It's meatloaf," Chad told him helpfully. "And mashed potatoes." Of which he somehow still had a lot of, which was impressive considering how steadily he was consuming them.

Worf then tasted the mashed potatoes before sighing and pushing it away. "It is too... bland."

And it also didn't move. This is what he gets for not eating more human food.

"...Maybe it needs Tabasco," Chad mused.

Because, yes, that was the solution to everything.

Worf gave Chad an inquisitive look.

"Tabasco?"

The suggestion of interest got an enthusiastic grunt out of Chad. As enthusiastic as a grunt from Chad could be, anyway. "Oh, man, it's some of the best stuff. Hot sause. You can put it on almost everything."

And Chad really did put it on almost anything.

"What exactly is in this... hot sauce?"

"It's a pepper sauce," Chad explained. "Red peppers, usually. They make some different kinds."

"I will have to try some," Worf decided. "Tell me where to find it."

"I know there's some at least in the third floor common room." Chad made sure there was never a lack of it up there. "And you can get some at Turtle & Canary, too."
