"Extortion and racketeering," sporting a pair of sunglass, Murdock wandered around the Danger Shop, arms wrapped around himself, "two of the most common tactics bad guys like to pull on innocent folks. Either they've had their families threatened or they've already tried to fight on their own and gotten worse for their troubles. Now most of the time, these kind of scumballs like to target folks who can't fight back at all." He stopped abruptly, tilted the glasses down a little and glanced at his students, "And I really don't like unfair fights." Hopefully, nobody would notice the bloodshot eyes or the small baggies under them.

Shoving the glasses back up, he started pacing the room again, "But there's always some bigger sleaze runnin' the whole show. He's the one you gotta bust, not the muscle. Cut off the head, the rest ain't gonna be able to move. So. You have to work out a plan. A plan to get the bad dudes without gettin' any of the innocents caught in the crossfire." He stopped moving once more. "It can be a lot harder than it sounds."

"Here's what we're gonna do today; you've been hired as a team," he put special emphasis on the team point, "to run these slime out. There are innocent people scattered about, but they should be out of the way. You have a limited amount of firepower, so you're gonna have to improvise with what's available. And hope your plan works."

(Just like last week, main portion of the class is in the OCD. Please feel free to bounce off each other's threads. Also, as I'm sure you already know, my availability is rather limited. Therefore, I've made the class as open as possible, so please mod away! ~~wait for the~~ OCD up!)

Blam, blam!

"Okay guys," Murdock waved everyone together, "I got a basic scenario in mind. A bunch of store owners are bein' ripped off by some hooty-tooty fancy pants from up town. He's been sendin' his goons down to shake money out of people who can't afford it. If they don't pay up," he scowled a little, "they wreck their shops and beat 'em up. And still take their money anyway."

"We need to work out a way to get not only the thugs outta here, but the head scum too. But you need some way to get him down here. He's not just going to come on his own. You might have to send him a personal message," he flashed a devious grin. "So what's it gonna be? How're gonna do this?"

So what is it? Put your heads together and come up with something.

Mod the scene. Various tools are at your disposal, as well as a few guns. However, the Danger Shop won't let you actually shoot anyone. ~~cuz Murdock's canon is funny like that :)~~ Anything else is fair game. Grab a vehicle, make an explosive, whatever suits your fancy and go to work on beating out the bad guys! The Danger Shop also won't let any of the class get injured either, but it still might be a good idea to at least pretend *g* to have a measure of cover against the bullets flying everywhere.

Once the class had a viable plan worked out, Murdock started up the Danger Shop, the room turning into a small, urban street lined with various shops. "Alright!" he called out, "You got your plan, everything's in position, so hop to it! Let's see if we can run these suckers out!"

Fight back! ~~the crackier, the better!~~

Did things go as you expected or not? Anything you saw that could've caused problems? If you had to do it again, what would you do differently? Part of the point of this exercise was to get you to think on your feet." He took a seat on the hood of a nearby shot-up car. "So tell me what you got."

Sorry it's later than expected. The word doc with the class didn't burn correctly and I didn't know it *until* I got into work today. Oy ve.

And I know this class puts a lot more on you guys, but that's why I'm leaving it as open as possible. You can mod anything today, except for Murdock himself. I'll ping back as much as possible, but everything will be very SP.

Hopefully I'll have my home net restored soon. Preferably before I go insane.

"Um. Knives?"

That wasn't a plan, per se. Just... an idea.

"Okaay...what about knives? How and what would you use them for? Tack a big ol' note to the head honcho's office door with one? Fling 'em at car," *achoo* "tires?"

Rolling his eyes a bit, he produced a hankie from somewhere. "'tupid sumber 'old," he mumbled.

Bender

"Make his jerks look like a bunch of morons who couldn't hold on to the neighbourhood," said Bender. "He'll have to escalate or risk someone else taking his money."

Someone who had more experience on the other end of extortion.

"That's a good suggestion," Murdock replied. *sniffle* "If his goons mess up, he'll have to come down to take care of business himself. And that puts him on your turf."

"I've got these," Bender called out. He pulled at what had been a store railing, straining until it popped out of the sidewalk.

Gradually the metal railing was becoming a pile of spiky caltrops, as Bender tore, twisted and bent, muttering to himself. "That should slow those meatbags down."

Anemone paused, watching Bender for a moment before a delighted smile blossomed on her face. "You're nice," she announced, quickly grabbing an armload of bricks and climbing up on to one of the fire escapes to set up shop. "Can you make me cannonballs?"

"I can do that," Bender answered. He looked around - nobody was using that stack of trash cans, were they - and started coiling the metal into something vaguely round. "You got a cannon up there?"

"I've got me, and the time-space distortion commonly known as the laws of gravity," she said cheerfully, scaling back down the ladder for more loose objects. "I figure a few nice large things aimed at their heads will be properly discouraging."

You guys are cracking me up! *g* Can't really ping in but I can see what's going on from the notifications. Y'all are awesome!

"I have bombs," Rikku offered with a chirp. "Do we need bombs for anything? Bombs rule."

Jack grinned. "Bombs are good. I've got knives covered," he said, sticking one into his boot top.

"Now..." he said, thinking ~~watch out for the smoke!~~ "...if only there was a way to get a big enough knife to take out a car..."

Murdock was standing off to the side, just watching and grinning.

"Don't need a big one, Jack. Just chuck at the tire when it's movin' and it'll probably go over."

"I like how you guys are thinkin'," he smirked.
