Underwater Basket-Weaving as a Metaphor for Organising Your Life, Tuesday

What with the island now being in rather warmer waters, the class had been handwavily informed that they were meeting at the beach.

"All right," Lulu began. "Those of you who feel confident in your swimming abilities, come with me. Those of you who feel you need more instruction before you're comfortable, go with Professor Mizrahi."

After the class had divided itself and assuming that there are people who end up in both groups, Lulu addressed her portion of the students. "Today, I'm going to be testing your swimming abilities," she said, "so get in the water and show me what you know." After a moment, she waved her hands at them. "Go on! Into the water! Out to the marker and back. And, yes, you're being timed."

Juli, meanwhile, had turned to her own section of the class and smiled faintly. “We’ll be covering the basic swimming strokes, so all of you into the water, but carefully and no higher than your waists to start with. How many of you know how to float in the water?” She waited for the answers before going on. “We’ll be finding out how many of you really can, and then covering the basics of the front crawl.” Juli took a breath and went into a bit of detail on how the technique worked.

She smiled again. Less faintly. “Alright, into the water then, and we’ll try putting that to practice.”

Can you float in the water? Prove it to Juli!

How much do you remember of Juli’s explanation? She’ll help you however much you need to, and walk you through it.

Giselle could swim fine. But she didn't really get the point of the whole being timed thing so she lazily stroked back and forth, taking time to look at the sparkling water and beautiful surrondings.

Sokka swam pretty well, although what he was doing couldn't really be counted as any recognizable stroke. No, it was pretty much the front crawl. More or less. Sort of. More like wild flailing with smooth, easy strokes, really. Regardless, he made it out to the marker and back pretty quickly, and then did another lap just for the heck of it.

Bender wasn't exactly yacht-class material, but he moved through the water at a fair speed with splashing feet and slow arm strokes.

He made it to the buoy quickly and was part way back when... Something shiny. Treasure perhaps? Bender sank, a trail of bubbles marking his passage to the sea floor.

Lion-o was a fairly good swimmer, for a cat-person. He really seemed to enjoy being in the water.

Harry Dresden

Harry was a totally capable swimmer. As in, he wasn't going to drown unless there was something out there helping him drown. Of course, Harry being Harry, it was likely that at some point something would be helping him drown.

The swimming wasn't pretty, but it was decently fast and again, no drowning!
