"Welcome to Networking to Success," Nathan said. "I'm your teacher, Nathan Petrelli. You can call me Mr. Petrelli. We've got a nicely small class this time around so please feel free to take advantage of that by letting me know if there's anything you'd like to focus on.

"Unless you're hoping to live the life of a hermit, you're going to need to know how to network. That is, you're going to need to meet people, make a good impression, learn how you can help them and how they can help you.

"With today's class we're going to start with the basics." Nathan grinned. "This is one of the few classes where introducing yourself actually is part of the cirriculum. But we are going to put a spin on it."

Nathan passed around a handout. "Handshakes are an important part about introducing yourself. As you can see, how you shake hands can make or break your first impression. So I want you to go around and introduce yourselves to one another. That's name and a fact about yourself. Doesn't have to be fancy. Where you're from or your favorite hobby is fine. Do all that with a handshake and let the other person do the same to you. Also, when you introduce yourself to me let me know what you'd like to get out of the class.

"I'm here if you have questions. Or you can talk to Lana, who's the TA."

Seregil i Korit

Seregil was quite happy to shake anyone's hand.

"Seregil i Korit Solun Meringill Bokthersa," Seregil said, holding out his hand to the teacher. He allowed himself a small self effacing smile. "Yes, I know it's a huge mouthful. Introductions in my homeland can take quite some time."

Giselle

"Hello!" Giselle said, forgetting to actually offer the hand. "I'm Giselle. You were in my dancing class last time."

"I'm just Giselle," she said, beaming at Nathan. "Maybe that makes up for Seregil's long name."

"Yes," Seregil said, with a small bow, reverting to his own instinct on how to meet someone. "I remember. I'm Seregil i Korit Solun Meringill Bokthersa." He smiled slightly. "Just Seregil is fine; I realize it's on the long side."

She smiled brightly at the bow and curtsied in response. "Oh, I wouldn't want to call you not your whole name! I can remember the whole thing."

"Most of it is more an acknowledging of my family line and clan," Seregil said. "Seregil is the part that's mine alone."

"Are long names considered a sign of status?" Nathan asked, genuinely curious.

"Pleasure to meet you Giselle," Nathan said. "Was there anything in particular you were hoping to get out of the class?"

"In a way -- it's a telling of family lineage. In the language of this land, it's Seregil son of Korit, son of Solun, son of Meringill, of the clan Bokthersa."

"Sounds like giving family history is an important part of networking where you're from," Nathan said.

"It is," Seregil said, a hint of wistfulness in his eyes. "Family is... everything."

"I can understand that," Nathan said. "Birthright means a lot where I'm from too. So what were you hoping to get out of the class?"

"It never hurts to hone one's ability to fit into situations," Seregil said.

"How do you define fitting in?" Nathan asked.

"Oh no," she said thoughtfully. "I just liked the title."

"I'll do my best to make sure it lives up to it," Nathan promised.
