Functional Fashion, Thursday [Week 7]

"Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the last session of Functional Fashion," Lulu said, beginning the class. They were in the regular classroom today, rather than outside or in the Danger Shop. "Today, there's no lecture -- just the presentation that I informed you of the first week of class. I hope you all got the ~~handwavy~~ reminder, after last class." She smiled. "I should have any equipment you require, for any form of presentation. Are there any volunteers? If not, then you can go first," Lulu finished, pointing to a student at random.

Finally!

As per the syllabus, the assignment was as follows:
1) Students are to design three (3) different complete outfits in the style of their choice.
2) All three outfits are to conform to the same style or theme, but the style or theme may be chosen by the student at their own discretion.
3) On the last class of the term, students are to present their clothing line to the class and the professor.
   3a) The presentation may take any format.
   3b) Clothing may be presented in any format, including but not limited to:
      3i) Making the clothing and having it modeled/showing it on dressmaker's dummies.
     3ii) Drawing up the designs to show the class.
    3iii) Presenting computer-based models.
    [3iv) Finding pictures online that suit the player's needs OOCly.]
4) Clothing designs must be functional in some fashion.
   4a) 'Functional' in this case to be defined as per the course.
   4b) It is up to the student, as part of their presentation, to justify how their designs are functional.
[5) Of course, the project as a whole may be handwaved to any degree wanted/necessary, but I hope you'll have some fun with it!]

She's around, whether you need her during, or after, class. She's not likely to accept any excuses for not having your presentation done, however -- you've had six weeks to get it done, after all.

Still, if you need to, you can try to weasel your way out of it.

Around for a bit tonight, then off-and-on during the day tomorrow until about 2PM Eastern. I'll be on again after work tomorrow night, hopefully around 10PM Eastern.

Cassandra had actually come to class wearing a black dress. She also had two garment bags which she was going to use for her presentation.

"For me," she explained, "Functional means being able to move freely." She proceeded to explain how the dress was cut short enough not to restrict her movement. Then she showed how her usual suit was the same way, and the pair of black capris and white shirt she'd brought along as well.

After she was finished she looked over at Lulu questioningly... That was what she was supposed to do, right?

"Very good, Cassandra," Lulu said, smiling. "They seem very apt choices for that particular function. Tell me, have you given any thought to how these outfits might be functional in other ways? What could you use with the dress, for example, to defend yourself?"

After a moment to consider this Cassandra ventured uncertainly, "A... knife? In a thigh sheathe maybe?"

Lulu nodded. "Yes, that's definitely one solution. What about accessories? Consider the class we had on that -- what could you use with the dress that would double, in some fashion, as a weapon?

"Stiletto heels are one possibility -- aesthetically, they would go well with the dress. Would you consider them to be appropriate? Or would they affect too much your ability to move?"

Cassandra pulled a face, "Hard to move in. But... a purse with a chain for a strap?"
