Maybe it was some small sense of mercy that lead to Bond's class taking place in the Perk...or at least a Danger Shop facsimile thereof. The fact that the view out the windows was neither Fandom nor Greece, should have been a clue for any confused students.

After the class had assembled, Bond began. "Good morning. Now I'm assuming you all chose this class because you were interested in food appreciation. Nevertheless, today I'm going to start you off easily and let you tell me and the class why you signed up, along with your name, age, and a little bit about yourself."

He paused. "However, I am not going to let you off entirely easy, as you'll also include your favourite kind of coffee in your introduction, as well as explain why you like it. Then we'll have something of a coffee tasting session, and you can tell me if your opinion has changed. Also, given our current location, I would advise you to try the various forms of Greek coffee availible while you can. Now, before we begin the introductions, I'd like to say a few words about the beverage which you can see growing outside these windows."

Well, all right, more than a few. The class might have gotten the completely accurate impression that Bond occasionally had a tendency to fixate.

After he'd finished, Bond serenely sipped from his cup and gestured to the class. "Now it's your turn."

"I'm Ned," he said, waving again before hurriedly tucking his hands away. "I'm eighteen and I like...well, black coffee. But that's the only kind I've had since leaving the boarding school I was last in. Um. It's good and strong and bitter and wakes me up."

Ned, having been oh so adventurous with his black coffee answer, tried adding a few things to his coffee.

The sweet ones made him jump a bit and the really bitter ones made him scrunch of up his face in distaste.

But, he was feeling REALLY awake now.

"Aravis, sixteen, and I like tea better," she said shortly.

Aravis was there though her player would be in and out throughout the day.

The only difference in Ned's outward appearance was the rapid blinking. Otherwise, he was just as still and careful to keep to himself as always.

"Adding sugars and creamers and flavors to the coffee definitely makes it better," he said. "It's less likely to taste like mud."

"My name is Hoshi Sato and I'm fifteen. I took this class because I like working with food," she said. "I'm not much of a coffee drinker, unless I really need the caffeine. Usually I'll just drink green tea."

Hoshi made sure to try a little bit of everything, jotting down a few notes about each coffee she tried.

"There was a lot more to coffee than I expected," said Hoshi, consulting her notes. "I didn't realize there were so many variations."

She would probably be bouncing off the walls for the rest of the day.

Cimorene stood up, brushing off her skirts. "I'm Princess Cimorene of Linderwall, seventeen years old, and I'm not very big on coffee, I usually prefer tea."

There is no such thing as less noticeable when there are drinks with chocolate, sugar, and whipped cream available. Though Francine did eventually find her way to the coffees with actual flavors, too.

"Jenny Sparks, one hundred and eight or fifteen adjusted, and I prefer Earl Grey tea, but generally when I drink coffee it's a crisis situation and it's been made by a member of the military, so it's black and strong enough to melt the spoon." A pause. "I don't particularly like it like that."

Jenny sampled the various coffees, noting that when it hadn't been made by some idiot corporal and then left on the burner to, well, burn, coffee was much tastier.

Also, it went well with cigarettes. Go figure.

Ella sipped at the different coffees. She still didn't like any except the Starbucks-style drinks.

"I'm Naomi Wildman," Naomi said, "I'm 16 and I prefer my coffee black, I like it done that way because I grew up on a starship and a lot of the officers tended to have black coffee so I grew to like it,"
