Tactics 201, Thursday, Period Two

Class met in an ordinary classroom today; Kerrigan was seated-- well, leaning, really-- against the desk, her arms crossed. Over her breasts. Protectively.

For no reason, really.

"We've only got a class left until exam time, kids--" Which meant two weeks-- three weeks? until graduation, crap, "So today's time for a review and discussion of the past months' work before the grand final practice next week. You'll be getting your handwavey, if necessary sim stats back. Go over stuff, see what you might need to improve on, and you'll get a 30% grade on that material."

She pushed forward-- away from the desk. "Secondly, we've been dealing primarily with my universe, here. I feel it's a good learning exercise, not to mention good for the pushing whole 'working together' issue, if you all would find a partner and discuss warfare in your world. As it is, in contrast to the other person's, and in contrast to the class material."

Sky had done well, just as he expected, and couldn't help but look a little smug.

Okay, VERY smug.

Sky looked around for someone who wasn't a Power Ranger (past, present or future) to talk about warfare with. A subject always close to the forefront of his mind, especially nowadays...

River thought she had done quite well in this class.

Sokka had done well. Amazingly well. OUTSTANDINGLY well. The fact that that wasn't represented in his actual grade was a crying shame.

Sokka looked around for a partner. His world's idea of warfare was COMPLETELY different from anything he'd seen on TV.

Triela

Re: Talk to Kerrigan

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Sokka watched her checking herself out and snickered.

Re: Check Your Stats

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Triela had done extremely well at anything involving solo work and/or breaking things. Group work or things requiring less violent tactics had been merely decent.

Sokka snickered again, but kept his mouth shut.

They didn't make it to his lips, but the words "Yes, Professor, they're back" were at the forefront of his mind.

Re: Listen to the Lecture

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Jen was half-listening, mostly just glad she was back to being normal -- and being glad that Time Force standard issue uniforms were unisex.

She had a small gold Allen wrench in her hands for some reason, and kept fiddling with it.

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Jen hadn't done as well as she'd hoped, and in typical Jen fashion was scowling a bit as she mentally berated herself for all the things she could have done better.

Re: Check Your Stats

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Zuko didn't care about grades. It didn't matter in the long run anyway. Not that it stopped him from smirking.

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No, he didn't think this was the smartest move but... Maybe it was enough that it was a move. "Still need someone to discuss this with?"

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Sokka scratched his head. "Well, I think we were supposed to talk to people from different worlds..." Then he stopped himself. "No. Yes. I mean, yes, let's pair up. ...I don't suppose the greatest tactical genius of all time has any suggestions for me?"

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"We're not from the same world," Zuko point out as he sat down. "I'm prince to the Fire Nation, don't you think that I have information on this war that you don't? Things that could help you and your friends win?"

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Would you really tell me that?" Sokka asked. "Your army's deployment sizes and locations? New weapons under development? Strategic weaknesses?"

His eyes gleamed. "I don't suppose there are any counter-invasion plans The Butcher drew up which your father pigcowheadedly rejected?"

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can't guarantee you that it would be the same as in my world," Zuko pointed out, grimacing a little at Sokka's enthusiasm and part of him felt sick talking like this. "Wait, did you try to invade the Fire Nation already?"

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"...Did we...?" Sokka looked at him funny. "No, not yet. And according to Aang, we're not going to be able to -- the Earth Kingdom army was sort of the keystone of my plan, and Azula's taken Ba Sing Se." He sighed. "Well, I've got a while to come up with a new plan; time's apparently moving real slow back home."

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"It failed," Zuko said simply, crossing his arms.

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"I haven't COME UP WITH THE PLAN YET!!!" Sokka insisted. "It CAN'T have failed!"

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"It did in my world. It doesn't mean it has to for you, but..." he hesitated. "I can help, but... I don't want to destroy the Fire Nation. It's my home and I'm supposed to protect people, but right now my father is hurting them more than anyone else."

Peter Pevensie.

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sorry to burst your bubble," Sokka told him, "but it's not the Fire Nation that's hurting, here." He facepalmed. "We're not going to hurt civilians. We're not..." Sokka sighed and gave Zuko a pleading look. "All we want is to end the war, with as few deaths as possible. Yeah, we're going to have to kill people to do it, but maybe after that, all the fighting and killing will be done."

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Zuko made a face. "I know what war is. I know what it costs. It's why I want to help Aang, but I'm not helping so that they can make it part of the Earth Kingdom and tear it apart. We need to restore balance to the world."

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, we're not going to restore balance to the world," Sokka pointed out, with a sad sort of smirk. "Not unless we get Aang a harem and tell him to have at it until he chafes. But we can make a start."

He blinked at Zuko, suddenly seeing one of the most important bits from the opposite point of view. "You, uh... You realize that, uh... Um. Your father and your sister..." He grimaced.

Your father and your sister are going to have to be killed. By us.

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] thebluespirit.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Zuko had just been staring at Sokka, but his expression quickly changed and he glanced over Sokka's shoulder. "Fighting the Firelord is the Avatar's destiny," he said simply as if that said enough and really to Zuko, it did.

Re: Discuss!

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Sokka said, twisting around to try to figure out what Zuko was looking at. "I guess it is." But he was thinking deeply, and when he turned back to Zuko his eyes were cold.

If I can manage it, I'M going to deliver the final blow. So he doesn't have to.

Bridge doesn't really do 'smug', but he can't stop the dorky little pleased grin from appearing as he flips through his evaluation. He'd done pretty well, all in all.
