There were a number of very interesting social and academic aspects to the Renaissance, involving a return to 'classical' values, but we are as always interested in the art. In the Renaissance, there was a return to realism in art, away from the flat, stylized forms of medieval art, especially icons, and back to the classical, more accurate representation of form. Artists also began figuring out how to represent perspective on a flat surface. They were also interested in light. Not like Thomas Kinkade. We do not speak of him."
