Choosing Your Own Government--Monday, Period 5, Class #10

Vala was exhausted, and looked it. She yawned, then addressed the class from her spot behind her desk. "Hello. I know what most of you were up to this past week, and particularly this weekend, and I know how much sleep you probably didn't get. I didn't get back from London until relatively late. So, instead of teaching a class I'm not clear enough to communicate and you're not conscious enough to comprehend, I'm reinstituting what I understand is a primary school tradition."

"Everyone push their desks to the side of the room, then grab some crackers or cookies and a plastic cup of apple juice," she instructed. "Pillows, mats and blankets are by the door if you want them, and as soon as everyone's settled, I'll turn out the lights."

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a well-deserved naptime."

Considering the fact that Eve was massively hung over, this made Vala her new favorite person ever.

She shoved her desk over, got a nice little place all ready on the floor, and then plunked herself down with her juice and crackers.

Since Anemone had been doing late-night research shifts in the library all week, extra sleep was definitely welcome. She grabbed a blanket, mat, and juice, and settled in for a nice nap.

I'm dying over here.

WHY DID I NOT GET NAPTIME IN HIGH SCHOOL. (Except study hall. And English class. Those don't count.)

Karal hesitated for a moment, and then Altra swatted his leg. "All right," he told him, shaking his head.

He moved his desk, gathered some mats and blankets, skipped the snacks, and soon there was a comfy palette, Karal and Altra curled up on it, a space left, just in case a particular someone wanted to join them.

Eve smiled at her friend. "Hey," she said softly, taking a sip of her juice. Yay, apple juice!

A small, exhausted, curly-headed someone, perhaps? Evey wandered over and helpfully noted, "You look like you're not using all the space you could."

Did you take Photography? Cause I took two years of that just so I could sleep in the dark room.

My teachers hated me.

No, I didn't get that class. =(

I did, however, end up with four study halls my senior year. Ah, memories.

Karal smiled up at her and pulled back the blanket. "It just so happens that there's an Evey space right here I'm not using," he said, nodding at the mat in front of him. "If you wanted to make use of it."

Re: Naptime!

[identity profile] remember5th.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't see any other Eveys that might use it," she said thoughtfully, moving to curl up on the mat.

"Then it must be for you." He pulled the blanket over her and reached for her hand, mindful of where they were and not snuggling close to her. "How does it feel?"

Re: Naptime!

[identity profile] remember5th.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Like it was made for an Evey," she decided, twining her fingers through his.

He laughed softly and glanced around, then lifted her hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it. "It was. Just for you."

Altra moved, sprawling over both their legs, and started to purr.

Evey smiled, closing her eyes. "I never liked naptime when I was little and at creche or anything."

Re: Naptime!

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
"I've never had naptime before," he said, brushing her hair back, and closed his eyes. "I think I could learn to like it."

Re: Naptime!

[identity profile] remember5th.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't need it when I was little. What did I have to make me tired?" she wondered, smiling softly.

"I didn't go to school before the Cloister, and there we had lessons all day," he said. "No time for naps, and any free time we had I was always sneaking down to the stables."

Re: Naptime!

[identity profile] remember5th.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
And that made her smile more. "When I was very little I'd go to creche, before I started at school, and we'd play with blocks or color or do games before we had to lie down for an hour."

Re: Naptime!

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
He laughed, trying to picture a very tiny Evey who didn't want to stop playing with her blocks, thank you, and she didn't need a nap. "Our worlds were so different."

Re: Naptime!

[identity profile] remember5th.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
"In some ways," she agreed, opening her eyes to smile at him. "This naptime is much more welcome. Probably has something to do with not being four."

"And I quite like the company," Karal told her, eyes staying closed, but he squeezed her hand.

Katara

Re: Naptime!

[identity profile] southernbender.livejournal.com 2008-03-17 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara took her juice and crackers, but she couldn't quite sleep. So she curled up on the mat with her blanket over her and played with tiny flows of water.

John didn't want to nap. He was unhappy and overtired and possibly cranky. He also didn't want detention, so he grabbed a mat and did as he was told.

But he didn't have to like it.
