Mohinder was perched on the front of his desk as the class assembled, holding a glass beaker of colourless liquid in front of him. When everyone had arrived he pulled a dollar from his pocket, held it in the liquid, and then set it alight. The note remained intact, as the liquid burned, and Mohinder began, "Organic chemistry. Originally believed to contain all the reactions necessary for light, now used to denote any molecule with a carbon-hydrogen base." and continued on.

The note's flame reached Mohinder's fingers and he dropped it, intact, on the desk, extinguishing it. "Aah." Mohinder looked back at the class. "Alcohols are a branch of organic chemistry, and aren't limited to ethanol, the more popular and intoxicating compound. Alcohol is flammable at low temperatures," he said, holding up the glass. "As are water-alcohol mixes."

Mohinder talked for a few more minutes, including the fermentation of alcohol from glucose. "You have in front of you all the necessary parts to create ethanol. But do resist the temptation to drink what you produce."

Sokka, of course, wrote his name on the table in the alcohol-water mixture and set it alight.

Rodney McKay

Rodney was pleased to note the absence of the clicky pen. Apparently, his point had sunk in last week. He took notes in the blessed silence.

Sokka threw a paper throwing star at his roomie's head. Scribbled across one side was written I dare you to drink some.

Sokka waved, trying to get Lucas's attention. And then he mimed clicking a pen and pouted.

Lucas turned and watched Sokka's act interestedly before holding up the capped pen, shrugging, and pointing at Rodney.

Psshhhht. Sokka waved in Meredith's direction, dismissing him. Ignore him! He mimed clicking the pen again, grinned, and waggled his eyebrows.

Lucas laughed and swapped pens for the faithful clicky version that had been safely tucked away in his bag. He clicked it a couple times to see if that met with Sokka's approval.

Lucas tried not to look at Rodney.

Sokka grinned broadly, nodded, and gave Lucas a thumbs-up.

He was so good to his roomie.

Peter Parker

Rodney jumped in his chair when he the paper star hit him in the head and barely managed to hold back a shriek. He picked up the paper and read the message on it before glaring around at his classmates to see where it had come from. Spotting Sokka, Rodney rolled his eyes. You do it, he hissed at his roommate.

"I will if you will," Sokka hissed back.

Rodney scoffed. "No." He wasn't the type to be pressured into stupid stuff that would get him in trouble.

Rodney's head hit the desk.

Sokka grinned and gave him a thumbs-up, too.

Sokka sighed. "I'm sorry you're not more cool."

"I hate to break it you," he didn't, "but getting detention is not actually cool."

Sokka raised an eyebrow at him. "DUH."

Contradictory? Hypocritical? Not Sokka...

"Whatever," Rodney muttered as he refocused on the class.
