Aly was torn between bouncing and being very, very serious at this. A few workstations around the campfire were set up with tubes, funnels, different powdered chemicals and what looked like gunpowder. Possibly because it was gunpowder.

"Okay, change of plans for today. What we're going to do is make fireworks," she said with a grin. "We're using live black powder so be careful. This isn't a time to mess around."

She quickly gave everyone the rundown on how to put together Roman candles and falling leaf shells.

Aly grinned. "Now fireworks are useful for a great many things. Amusement. Distractions. They're very good for the latter. Other things that work well for both distractions and ways to annoy people might be stink bombs and smoke bombs. The latter's different from the smoke grenades a few weeks ago just by being a bit easier to make." She pointed to a table where there were quite a few of both varieties. "Try them out. Try them away from the main class please. And as long as you will all use them properly - remembering that gunpowder needs to go in the weapons' locker - you're free to take the fireworks you made or some of the stink and smoke bombs back to the dorms with you." Everyone could have three guesses for what Aly meant by properly. The first two really didn't count.

"Other than that, any questions? Requests for the last class next week?"

Luke had more of of his attention on the task before him, but he'd seen his fellow students in action enough to be not completely oblivious to his surroundings.

Annette was enjoying this, really. Stink bombs? Wouldn't Umbridge just love one of those?

She probably looked a little devious while she was making her fireworks.

River loved fireworks. She'd tried to get her parents to allow her to make her own as a child, but they had not permitted it, not even if Simon was helping her. Thus she took great interest in this class, preparing a Roman candle.

Johnny Blaze

Johnny knew how dangerous pyro could be, so he carefully worked on putting his fireworks together. He made a couple of falling leaf shelves, before changing the mixture a bit and adding one or two cherry bombs to the pile.

"Oh, lovely!"

Evie started to work on her falling leaf shell, thrilled to be creating fireworks.

Possibly that fuse is a little too short....

Summer was totally having a good time. Fireworks were cool.

Strangely enough, Billy was making a lot of fireworks. His intention? To set them off in celebration as Umbridge was leaving.

Bridge Carson

Bridge works carefully on some falling leaf shells. The fuse he's working with is, unsurprisingly, green.

Sokka

Pshht. Fireworks were pretty, but pretty wouldn't cut it. Sokka was ALL over the stink bombs, though, and made several of them.

Totally his father's son.

"Ma'am?" Sokka asked. "I don't suppose you were thinking of coordinating a time and place for us to set off our fireworks in celebration? I mean, I've only got a few" -- he held them out for her to see that they were, in fact, stink bombs and not fireworks -- "and more is always better, right? We could all pool our fireworks and put on quite a show, couldn't we?"

Inara Serra

Inara contemplated the stink bombs for a minute, but decided to try her hand at smoke bombs instead, being careful to tie her hair out of the way before she started.
