Criminal Justice Class 5
[OOC: Massive thanks to
a_phale for the text and links. This kind of insanity needs people to feed it. Class Info Post.]
*There is nothing odd about Tick this morning. Well, he is sitting at a desk that he had never acknowledged before. That's kind of weird. And he is playing with some kind of remote control with an intense look of concentration on his face. That's pretty weird. And there's a strange droid passing out text books as students enter the class. That's... Well, it's probably not expected.
The droid looks vaguely like Tick as drawn by a stick-figure artist, only less blue, rustier, and held together by duct tape, Elmer's glue, and rubber bands. There is no reasonable explanation for how this thing is working at all. Just attribute it to luck or the Force or something. And probably lean away from it, just in case the loose wires, sparks, and sizzling noises amount to anything worse. Tick looks up from the controls.*
Welcome, class! Today we will be discussing a text provided to us by Mr. Phale in town.
The text is called... um... Corpus Iuris Civilis - I've been told this has nothing to do with zombies - and it is by a man named Justin Ian. He lived in Ancient Times! He starts Corpses with the following quote:
"Iustitia est constans et perpetua voluntas ius suum cuique tribuens."
Or in English, "JUSTICE is the constant and perpetual wish to render every one his due."
I'm not sure quite what that means. Please discuss what you got out of that quote. And feel free to read ahead to give a more detailed answer!
And for this week's Extra -- *CRASH! One of the droid's arms falls off, flinging a rubber band at a student's forehead* Egads! Sorry about that! Are you okay?
Anyway, this week's Extra Credit deals with this past weekend's events: Share a story about how you faced Undead Villainy! If you weren't here for the zombies, just make up a ghost story or something!

*watches the Tick's impromptu shop class*
*takes that last part back*
As for my extra credit, I blew up a weapon and blew up many zombies alongside a vampire, shot a lot of things, and didn't die.

As for the zombies, um, I was studying. But have you heard the one about the vampire bat? It bit the pyramid ball and lost the Caprica-Pisces match. Eh-heh.
Er.
::sits down, knowing that was really frakking lame and wishing he'd gotten drunk this morning::

I'd have to agree - equality and justice done to all.
I was out of town for the whole Zombie thing...but there was a pretty freaky seance` at a friend's birthday party...

Julia is constantly and perpetually volunteering for his unique... oh, wait, you wanted us to see what we got out of the English?
Hmmm. How about, "Are you feeling lucky, punk?"
Extra Credit: Um, well, I didn't do that much. Aside from fighting off three at one time, while saving Angelus' ass (and a mighty fine ass it is...)

*blinks*
*steers carefully around the robot and into a seat in the back*
"JUSTICE is the constant and perpetual wish to render every one his due."
*groans* Uh, sounds pretty God-complex to me, Mr. Tick.
not that I've ever been accused of same, everWho decides what someone's "due" is anyway?no subject

Err... I don't get your story. What's a pyramid ball?

*Trying to Scotch tape the arm back on.*
But what about the bigger picture? Sure people get what's coming, but who decides what that is? Does a guy from Ancient Latonia get to dictate what this is? Where does Justin's Justice come from?
These questions are the Deep End in the Pool of Criminal Knowledge!

As for this seance, did you talk to dead people? So did I, but they only said "BRAAAIIINS" back.

Well done!
And good try at the Latin!
Remember, when fighting the undead, even doing a little is doing a lot!

Of course, if the people who handle it wrong react the way they probably would, they would go ahead and euthanize Justice. Remember this! Handle Justice well! Keep Justice alive!
[OOC: Whoah. Tick got deep and used a random and accurate metaphor. Scary how these things happen.]

Justice isn't a baby calf. Right. *looks at own leg* Baby calf?
