Lights in the front of the room were switched off, the SmartBoard illuminated with a blue screen. A small box rested on the desk at the front of the room, labelled "Papers." Professor Roslin would be taking attendance today by the papers she received. Beside the box were bags of popcorn and cans of soda. The professor herself sat at the back of the room, her glasses perched on the bridge of her nose as she reviewed a pile of documents spread across the small desk. Strangely, it looked very...presidential.

As students entered, Roslin glanced over the rims of her glasses. "Turn in your paper, grab some popcorn, and a drink," she said. "In a few minutes, we're going to watch some television, and provide some ~~MST3K~~ running commentary. For now, just have a seat and talk quietly among yourselves."

"Okay," she said after the bell rang. "Let's get started. Today, I've pulled an episode of Strifenova Celestial, so we can continue our discussions from last week with a little bit of audio-visual help." If she was disturbed by the similarities between her own reality and that on the television series, it didn't show in her expression. She pressed "play" on the remote and the SmartBoard flickered to life.

The episode played throughout the class, with Roslin pausing it when points of discussion arose. She dismissed the class just before the credits rolled. "Have a good weekend!"

Discussion for the 2nd season Strifenova Celestial episode, "Set Aside Your Cares, Part I," detailing the first election since fleeing the Toaston attack, with President Lara Roastin facing off against Julius Balto.

There were off-topic conversations. Laura expected that...for this class at least.

She didn't rise from her seat as the class filled out, and continued working on her paperwork. She was, however, very interruptable, if her students needed her.

...because all the cool kids do it.

Sam turned in her paper on the third Space Battles movie, explaining how it had very little to do with reality and was an overly melodramatic view of war, focusing on one individual, and besides, the dialogue was stupid and no one could possibly sound like that in real life and still be able to walk upright without injuring themselves.

"Class sorry week Mrs. Roslin I'm last missed I. Got by down a I cliff goat chased a." Marco saw nothing weird with the way he was talking.

D'anna turned in a paper on the first released, chronologically fourth movie in the series, and spoke about how hope was vital to the happiness and survival of a people. She dropped a few lines about wooden actors and unjust treatment of ~~cylon like~~ droids, but mostly kept to her main theme.

Naomi turned in well though out ~~handwavey~~ paper on the third Space Battles movie that had been released (episode V1).

Laura blinked, removing her glasses. "Excuse me?" She turned her head slightly. Surely she hadn't heard him properly?

Marco blinked. "Class I missed week's last. Thing goat was there a with."

"I...see." Had she still been on chamalla, she might have attributed the strange speech pattern to another hallucination. Since the hybrid stem cell treatment, however, there had been no need for the herbal treatment. Licking her lips, she intertwined her fingers before her and leant forward slightly. An impish gleam lit her eyes. "And how is the goat?"

A smirk twitched across her lips before she brought her expression back under taut control.

Marco didn't pout, really. "Better than much me."

Laura paused the episode a few minutes in, as Balto discusses election strategy with Todd Kupec, a former terrorist and self-proclaimed "patriot." "Last week, we talked a bit about politics in a long-travelling fleet. Sam suggested that everyone sort of buckle down and keep busy; I posited that politics are always going to be part of life." She paused, pursing her lips as she considered how to phrase her question. "What we're seeing here is the continuation of politics as usual. Why might this be a good thing for the population in the surviving fleet?"

She allowed the grin now. "I'm sorry to hear that," she said. Still grinning, she gathered her papers on the desk. "Because the substitute's discussion wasn't quite what I'd intended, I assigned the class a Space Battles movie -- didn't matter which one, but one of the six. They were to review the films and examine whether or not the films provided a view of a larger society, or were works of total, ah, fluff."

Laura looked back up at him. "Think you could handle doing the same for me by next week?"

Marco nodded. "Definetly! Saw all original the I three. Rock they. ~~Talk like Yoda I do.~~"

"Good." Closing her folder, she pushed herself to her feet. "I look forward to getting your paper. In the meantime, you might want to check in at the clinic. You're sounding a bit...under the weather."

Marco frowned. "It don't but me keeps just everyone get telling that I."

Laura chuckled. "Trust me. As soon as you talk to them, the doctors will understand the island has struck again." She smiled warmly.

Marco was still confused. "If say okay so you. You thank."

"You're welcome. And see you next week."
