Science! (Thursday, Period 7)

The Friz waltzed into class and greeted them cheerfully as she removed her sou'wester, slicker, hip-waders, and rubber boots to reveal a dress covered in sou'westers, slickers, hip-waders, and rubber boots.

"Isn't all this rain absolutely wonderful?" she enthused, bouncing and posing, her friz more frizzy because of all the moisture in the air. "This is the perfect way to kick off our biology unit! We'll be started by studying the wonderfully complex system that is the water cycle! Everyone to the bus!"

In a damp and collapsey fashion!

The bus rumbled out of the school and through the massive and growing puddles, but Ms Frizzle gleefully went on about the molecular composition of water and all the fascinating properties it had while driving very carefully through the pouring rain. It was kind of hard to tell when the bus drove off the island and under the water as scuba gear in a variety of colours conviently dropped from the ceiling.

She drove on, and suddenly the bus began to rise. Out of the water and up into the air.

"As you know, class, water is always evaporating from lakes, rivers, streams, and oceans!" she announced as they disappeared into a cloud. She parked on top of it. "Everyone out!"

The cloud was moving higher and it was getting colder. All around the students, drop of water begin to form. "Clouds are water. The higher up you go, the colder the air is. When water vapour rises the cold air makes the vapour form droplets, which hang in the air as a mist!" Ms Frizzle went on as the drops got bigger and the students got smaller.

In a few minutes, each kid was in a raindrop. It began to rain - again. "Stay together, children!" Ms Frizzle called as they began to fall.

The rain fell on a stream somewhere on the mainland, and the class was whisked away towards the resevoir that fed the island. Ms Frizzle pointed out the various part of the resevoir system, like windbreaks and protective fences, and anti-dumping protection, as they swam through.

Ms Frizzle led them to the storage tank - "Swimming, swimming, in my municipal facility! When days are hot, when days are cool . . ." - and the class shot off down the pipes that carried the water through chlorination to kill remaining bacteria, and fluorination for shiny white teeth, and then onwards.

"The force of water as it moved through the pipes is called 'water pressure'. So just go with the flow, kids!" She laughed cheerfully at her own joke

A smaller pipe, and then a smaller one, carried the class up into a building.

Liz turned on the faucet in the girls' bathroom down the hall from the classroom, and the whole class tumbled out onto the tile as the bell was ringing.

"Enjoy the rest of the day, children! Have a good weekend!"

*hums* Do-do-do, do do-do, dude looks like a lady . . . *air guitars*

Valentine

Valentine was female today. And now they were on a cloud.

Today was shaping up to be another "one of those days."

Cindy Mackenzie.

Lucas Wolenczak. Sorta.

Mac fumbled trying to get a blue scooba outfit on before climbing out of the bus.

Clouds... certainly were different as environments went.

"I'll fall through," Lucas protested.

How you 'stay together' when you're in individual raindrops, Mac isn't quite sure. She did her best though, and flailed a little as they started falling.

Nova

"Not yet!" she said cheerfully. "Go ahead and try it!"

Turtle Wexler

Turtle stepped out and, looking around, still couldn't get used to everyone being all female-inated.

But, oh well. Clouds! Whee!

Nova's attention was temporarily redirected from hiding her new found femininity to the fact that she was on a cloud. Clouds were definitely less scary.

Sokka?

Sokka sighed and headed out onto the cloud. He knew what clouds were. He had flown through clouds before. This... was a really weird one, that's for sure. But, of course, today was full of weird. As he walked across the springy surface with nothing on under his shirt, he began to understand the point of supportive undergarments. And then there was the matter of the scuba gear -- where did the straps go?

Bounce bounce twirl! "Need some help with that suit?"

Oh, and NOW they got wet again. Beautiful.

Sokka flailed around in the raindrop and tried to stay near Ms. Frizzle.

"I think I'm okay?" Sokka answered, deciding the straps seemed better on the outside of the boobs.

Oh -- and tried to keep an eye on the ground. This was a great vantage point to look for Katara from, even if they did seem to be falling pretty fast.

No dice, though -- he couldn't see anything in this downpour.

Hikaru Hitachiin ~~pretending he's blond..~~

"Alright!" The Friz paused, frowning abstractedly. "There's something different about you today, Sokka . . ."

Sokka sighed and squeezed the remaining water out of his ponytail.

Then he ran to catch up with the girl who was probably Lucas. "Hey," he called. "Any luck with the camera food?"

"Nah," Sokka answered dryly. "I'm the same as ever. Just like all the rest of the boys."

"If you say so!" And she flounced away across the clouds.
