Aly perched on top of her desk, watching her students enter the classroom with a bit of a smile. She nodded to those she knew before and smiled at the ones who looked like they were probably brand new. Once everyone was seated, she stood up and leaned against the desk.

"Good afternoon. Some of you know me already, but for those of you who don't, I'm Alianne of Pirate's Swoop. You all can call me Aly, but if you're uncomfortable with that, duani is also acceptable." She grinned. "First person to call me Miss Aly, I get to demonstrate on. This class is 'So You Say You Want a Revolution.' If you're not interested in revolutions or you thought you were taking Home Ec - that was first period. You missed it."

"During the term, we're going to talk about why formenting revolution can be a good thing. We're going to discuss what revolutions can be used for, how they can be put together, and why a failed revolution can be just as effective." She gazed at all of them with a slight smile. "And yes, I still hate theory so practicalities will be covered. Demolitions, weaponry, organisation, magic - or not, tactics." She grinned. "And my favourite, intelligence."

"Seven years ago, I helped organise a rebellion that put my Queen in power and have served as her Spymaster ever since. Almost everything I'm going to be teaching you is what I learned during the rebellion and in the years since. And if I didn't learn it there, it's something that was useful to me at the time." She paused thoughtfully, stroking her black beaded necklace. "In spying, your brain is almost everything - half of spying is half mental as I've said before. But a single person can't put together an effective revolution. But a single person can destroy one. And a failed rebellion feeds only the ravens and Stormwings. It's a dangerous game. And one you have to commit to fully if you're going to succeed."

"So today, I'd like to get to know those of you I don't know already, and I'd like to hear what you think about revolutions and rebellions. When are they appropriate, what would it take to rebel against the current power structure of your home country, society, or even this school." She smiled mischievously. "Zuko and Bridge are your TAs for this class. They'll help me with many of the aspects so if you have any questions and I'm not around, feel free to ask them."

"Well, uh . . ." Anders fumbled for words a little bit. Okay, a lot. "Unreasonable is . . . I guess where what they want from you, and by you I mean the people, is completely unjust. And getting in the way of your ability to function normally. Expecting things of you that there's no way you can give without losing some of who you are, or not being true to yourself."

He'd gone slightly pale while he was speaking. "I don't really know if it differs in principle. Maybe in the specifics. Or in how you look at it. Like, are your motivations selfish, or for everybody's good?"

"I heard about that," Bel said. "It doesn't surprise me that Logan was up to something, but Angel condoning it, now that I didn't expect. Phoebe's doing much better now. She's up and about and going to classes."

"I think they can, certainly," Aly agreed. "But I'm not sure a 'bloodless' revolution is possible. Do you have a different experience?"

"I think it depends on why it was overthrown in first place. Did the people have a legitimate grievance? Or did it happen because the situation was manipulated by one man with a goal of his own?" Isabel has wondered what caused Max to be overthrown. Was it just Kivar looking to advance his own agenda? Or did Max really deserve it?

Aly raised an eyebrow. "And if I shall promise not to 'run off' unless my country needed me and point out that Bridge will also be a TA?"

"They should be the same thing," Walter replied. But he knew that didn't always happen. "But the kingdom comes first."

"After the stupid powers last year? I'm not surprised either. I just hope nobody winds up dead," Isabel said, shaking her head. "Good, it's not fun being sick. Granted, I don't know from personal experience. We've never been sick."

"Good to see you, Charlie," Aly replied, smirking slightly. "It's nice to have students with practical experience. I'd like to hear about the rebellion sometime."

Walter took notes based far more on Aly's questions than his classmates' answers.

More interesting than the rather unsettling topic of the class was the interaction among his classmates. Apparently he'd missed some brewing tensions. Alfred would be disappointed in him.

"Never?" Bel said curiously. "Are you immune to human diseases and viruses?"

Aly raised an eyebrow and managed just barely not to comment on the hottness of that.

"Glad to see you again, Seely."

"Spying didn't scare you away then, Anders?" Aly asked with a wink. "So I still have a possibility of recruiting you?"

"Bridge believes in space," Zuko pointed out as if he expected Aly to right away recognise that Bridge was insane.

Aly laughed. "I'll look forward to hearing about it," she replied. "I'm glad to see you again, Aeryn.

"Who's Naomi Campbell," Aly asked with a bit of a smile.

Aly's eyes traveled over Alec, trying to determine if he was magical or machine of some sort. "Do you make use of that on a regular basis?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Oh, good," Aly said enthusiastically. "Then we'll have a few people in here who know about explosions already. What do you use?"

"Totally," Anders said with a slight grin. I need to be a better liar though.

"Welcome, Balthier," she said. "What's the bounty for?"

"Apparently," she shrugged. "It's not like there's anyone we can really ask. But we've never been sick so I suppose they did some sort of tinkering. How about you? Did you have to worry about colds and the flu before? Or is that only going to be an issue now?"

Aly looked at Marie carefully, gauging the truth of her remark. "I'm glad you're here, Marie. Does your alternate dimension self also plot revolutions or is this your interest?"

Aly snickered. "An introduction and an advertisement? I'm not surprised, Parker."

Parker grinned. "Hey, it's a new semester, people need to be reminded."

"Demons are generally tougher than humans," Bel said. "So I suppose I had more of a resistance. But now I guess I have the same risks as a normal human."

"I'm glad you're hear, Isabel," Aly said with a warm smile. "And I hope that I can help you accomplish that."
