Aly perched on top of her desk, watching her students enter the classroom with a bit of a smile. She nodded to those she knew before and smiled at the ones who looked like they were probably brand new. Once everyone was seated, she stood up and leaned against the desk.

"Good afternoon. Some of you know me already, but for those of you who don't, I'm Alianne of Pirate's Swoop. You all can call me Aly, but if you're uncomfortable with that, duani is also acceptable." She grinned. "First person to call me Miss Aly, I get to demonstrate on. This class is 'So You Say You Want a Revolution.' If you're not interested in revolutions or you thought you were taking Home Ec - that was first period. You missed it."

"During the term, we're going to talk about why formenting revolution can be a good thing. We're going to discuss what revolutions can be used for, how they can be put together, and why a failed revolution can be just as effective." She gazed at all of them with a slight smile. "And yes, I still hate theory so practicalities will be covered. Demolitions, weaponry, organisation, magic - or not, tactics." She grinned. "And my favourite, intelligence."

"Seven years ago, I helped organise a rebellion that put my Queen in power and have served as her Spymaster ever since. Almost everything I'm going to be teaching you is what I learned during the rebellion and in the years since. And if I didn't learn it there, it's something that was useful to me at the time." She paused thoughtfully, stroking her black beaded necklace. "In spying, your brain is almost everything - half of spying is half mental as I've said before. But a single person can't put together an effective revolution. But a single person can destroy one. And a failed rebellion feeds only the ravens and Stormwings. It's a dangerous game. And one you have to commit to fully if you're going to succeed."

"So today, I'd like to get to know those of you I don't know already, and I'd like to hear what you think about revolutions and rebellions. When are they appropriate, what would it take to rebel against the current power structure of your home country, society, or even this school." She smiled mischievously. "Zuko and Bridge are your TAs for this class. They'll help me with many of the aspects so if you have any questions and I'm not around, feel free to ask them."

Josh kissed Aly's nose. "Fandom has you. I say it comes out...just about even." He grinned. "Florida might have a slight edge, but I fixed that by bringing the pie here."

Aly smiled at the assessment. "And is that a general failing of those in power - do they wear blinders? Or is it a failing or their intelligence services?"

"About the class or the spaceship?" That look on his face? That was the 'I'm looking innocent, but if you know me well enough you know I'm playing dumb' look.

"It depends, however, most of the time it is quite possibly the failing of those in power. They insist in the delusion that they can defeat any and all who oppose them." Irulan said, "Forgetting the most basic rule -- someone stronger will always emerge."

Isabel hadn't thought about that and she frowned. "I suppose it's a possibility. But why do through all the trouble? And I wouldn't expect subtle. Not after our trip."

"True," Bel said. "Demons aren't fond of subtlety as a rule. But still, I'm not so sure about them. Not until I have more proof than their word. They could be here to steal Phoebe's Book from her or something."

She laughed, wrinkling her nose at him. "The pie's that good, is it?"

"When the current government fails in it's duty to the people," Bridge says.

Steerpike raised an eyebrow. "That would depend. Do you like to vacation in cold, grey, stony kingdoms?"

"Oh, spaceship," she replied, innocently. "She has excellent connections in space."

"The most basic rule," Aly repeated, eyebrow raised.

"See, that's what I was thinking," he said, playing along. "Because being a knight isn't enough. She has to be a *space* knight."

Aly arched an eyebrow at Kawalsky and Parker for a second.

"Indeed," Irulan said, "It is the rule of nature, evolution. Change. Nothing remains strong forever."

Aly nodded. "I'm sorry to say that I haven't either. Welcome Steerpike. You'll find that people here are fixated on everyone having two names, but they get over it after a bit."

"Any particular type of gold?" Aly asked.

Aly grinned at Bridge. "I was glad to see your name on the list. How's the glove situation coming?"

"Considering that few can ever seem to get the only one I do have correct, I should certainly hope so."

"Perhaps your friends could include a scientist who can fix the power-crystal-thing," Aly suggested, grinning.

"You know how determined she is," Aly replied with a straight face. "First knight to the moon, I heard."

"Just one in particular to be honest -- the Gold throne."

Kawalsky thought about that for a moment. "I'm warming to the idea."

"What is the duty of a government to its people?" Aly asked.

Kawalsky smiled his biggest 'so I got caught, whatcha gonna do?' smile.

"Why stick to the moon? There's nothing interesting there. First knight to the other side of the galaxy's way more impressive, plus I hear it's a good vacation spot."
