Basic Acting, 11/7

Daisy seemed a bit preoccupied when the students entered the classroom that day. "As you can all see on the schedule, next week we'll be starting into some of the physical techniques of acting, and this week your choices for your final scene projects are due. We were going to do some improv in class today, but I figured I'd give all of you the choice. You can either do the improv assignment, which is to present a scene in which only your feet, back, or hands are visible to the audience, or you can get together into your groups and talk about your final projects. If you don't have a group or a project yet, might I suggest the latter?

"As soon as you let me know your group and project ~~handwaving is fine as always~~, you're free to leave. Next week, stage combat! So wear something you can really move around in."

[ooc: sorry for the uninspired class this week. But I wanted to give some IC room for people to actually get together into groups and such if you want. As always, handwaving of the assignment is fine, just PLEASE let me know if that's what you're doing. OCD is ~~going~~ up.]

Grab a partner or a group and figure out a scene. This DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A SCENE IN REAL LIFE, YOU CAN TOTALLY MAKE UP A TITLE OR SOMETHING FOR IT. Or handwave.

There are various prop doors and curtains about to help with the visibility part of this improv challenge.

Ping in here to let me know what the group is and what the scene is. If you have an actual group, only one person from it needs to reply.

Anyone object to me mixing up the final class by having a graveling or two arrive or something?

Jake looked around desperately for a partner or a group or someone.

Angela Chase

"Want to work together?" Angela asked.

"Ohgodyesplease!" Jake said and looked ready to glomp her in relief.

Angela smiled at Jake's enthusiasm. "Do you know what you want to do? And you look really different with that haircut."

John Crichton

Jake gave her a wry look. "That's what Rory said too. No, I have no idea, but maybe we could, like, pick a scene from a tv-show? Like when Bitterwoman fights Incredible Man who's gone insane from white dust, and... Okay, that one might be a bit complicated, but you get what I mean."

John took a seat on the stage, draped a curtain over him until only his feet were sticking out and proceeded to perform one of the many riveting scenes from A Station Wagon Named Lust. Right foot was Stanley and the left was Stella.

Of course, right food started itching about half way through and John ended up banging that foot on the stage to get rid of the itch. Hopefully, it'd just be seen as Stanley being really, really emotional.

Daisy smirked at these antics. That was a very creative response to the challenge.

Angela held up the sling on her left arm. "Not a fight scene today, definitely. Unless you want a really gimpy Bitterwoman."

She tapped the fingers of her free hand on her chin. "Maybe something from Amigos? Sitcoms aren't so physical."

Jake blinked at her. "I was thinking of the final project, actually, but maybe you already have a partner there?" He frowned for a moment. "Sitcoms are hard though, especially without a camera and a laugh track, because you got to get the timing right and stuff."

"I don't have a partner for the final scene," Angela said, embarassed. "Sorry, I lost track of what we were taking about If it's not for a couple weeks, the Bitterwoman scene sounds fun. Maybe twist it, do .... I don't know, Butterwoman in space?"

The twins were feeling even deader than they had earlier. Their headaches remained and they stood leaning against eachother, looking for another someone to join them for a group.

Jake snickered. "Butterwoman in space? I like that. I could be... Um. What's he called? The evil green space overlord dude?" He turned his forehead greenish with bumps on in an attempt to demonstrate.

"Um. Freaky," Angela said, not meanly. "I think his name's X'Zvion or X'Qvion or something. And Butterwoman can be trying to keep him from taking over her home planet of Dairylandia."

"Brilliant!" Jake said and pulled out his sketchbook to take notes. His forehead smoothed back down, but remained green. "I have no idea how to spell his name, so I'm just writing X. And he has that fierce horde of spambots, right? But Butterwoman can defeat them with her mighty... mighty... Uh..."

"Yeah, I can't spell it either,. X works."

"Dairy products?" Angela suggested, trying not to giggle. "Like, she throws packets of butter and those little cups of creamer at the spambots, and they're radioactive so they work as weapons."

"Radioactive dairy products. Sounds very unhealthy." Jake snickered. "I like it! We can probably get some from the lunch room, too, so it'd be, like, authentic. Sort of."

"And another reason I don't eat there," Angela said. "Sounds like a really good scene."

Zero Hopeless-Savage

"So, um, hi," Zero said.

"Yo. Need a group?"

"You are aware that's vaguely creepy, right?" Zero asked, just to make sure.

"People say that a lot." They nod in unison.
"But it's just something that happens." Hikaru nodded, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Huh." Zero looked thoughtful. "I wonder if we could use that in our thingy. I mean, if you're okay with working with me, that is."

"Sure!" They gave her the thumbs up.
"We did our monologues in unison too." Kaoru tapped his chin in thought.

"Swerval. We could do some kind of chorus-type thing," Zero mused. "'Cause, if you're good at it already, then I'm the only one who can really faff it up an' that leaves less margin for error and yes. I'll stop talking now."

The twins give her a strange look. They'd never met someone that would actually... admonish themselves for talking..
"Chorus? Like we echo you or..?" Kaoru didn't really understand.

Zero nodded enthusiastically. "Sure, we could do it that way. Or something. I don't know, do you guys have any ideas?"

"Hmm... we could do that. Make it dramatic for fun too." They shrug. They'd always been partial to classic improv.

"Okay, swerval. I think we're onto somethin' here."

John Dorian

JD has brought Laddie to class with him and, failing to find another person looking for a partner, is opting to do his scene with his new furry friend.

JD could have sworn Laddie wagged his taxedermied tail in response.

Swerval..?
"Good, good. Anything else we need to decide for this project?" Kaoru asked, shifting his stance a little; the left side of his head had suddenly started to pound rather annoyingly..

Zero shrugged. "I dunno. Anything you can think of?"
