Dance, Period 5, Thursday

"Today, class, we will be learning about the national song of Brazil. A music that survived millitary dictatorships, and then became part of the leftist movement to overthrow the regime. Today, class, we will be learning about the Samba."

El walked forward. "Now, I know that many of you are having mid-term tests, and that this is very difficult for you. Fortunately, we will have no mid-term here. We will only dance."

El gave a lecture on the Samba. And then brought up Nadia to help him demonstrate.

"Now, I have heard that you performed your own improvised dances whilst I was away. I have decided that this would make an excellent final project. Next week, I will sort you into groups of four, and you will produce an original dance video similar to the ones made famous by OK GO!. You will be allowed to use any of the dances we have learned about so far."

Nadia barely made it to dance class and only because she was already modded to be there in the post, but was rather obviously distracted and a bit fidgety the entire time she was there.

Nadia totally won't be checking her watch while you're talking to her. She'll just manuever you into a position where she can see the clock in the room over your shoulder.

River signed in, flapping her arms.

Samba was... sexy. That confused River. Besides, the boots were unsuitable.

Pippi signed in, also looking distracted.

Normally, Pippi's smile will take you to Rio...

Degenaro.

And then you have to do the samba.

But she's not quite feeling it today.

Pippi raises her hand as she's trying to keep her attention focused on the matter at hand here.

"Can we use any dances we already know?"

Billy signed in in a manner consistent with his mun being in a hurry.

"Belly dancing... The Schottche... Maybe the Jitterbug?"

If Walter doesn't die that is.

Pippi nodded.

Sam surprised herself and actually had a good time doing the samba, even if it might not win her a dance competition anytime soon. It also helped take her mind off certain music recitals.

Willow signed in with a spin.

Willow did her best to dance and keep the beat even though she had "Blame it on the Bossa Nova" stuck in her head now.

Lana imagined Jim was there and danced for him - and it worked amazingly well.
