Thomasina, having finally given up on her English class ever meeting, has decided to try study hall. She comes in carrying her usual exercise book and pen and ink, as well as a rather largish stack of books, which she places on a table off to one side and divides into two smaller piles. The one on the right is composed as such titles as Episodes from the Early History of Mathematics, The Crest of the Peacock: Non-European Roots of Mathemastics and Mesopotamian Mathematics 2100-1600 BC. The one on the left has The Private Life of the Romans and a few other things in this vein. She looks completely prepared to do exactly what the class's name would indicate it was meant for: study.
