So everyone else had, like, dramatic backstories and reasons to show up here and stuff. Which was fine, you know, if you were emotionally in the zone enough to go to those kinda lengths. Denise had just been, you know, chilling with her dad last night watching some hockey guys really pound in on each other - no, seriously, really get into it. One of them broke a rib or something, which was kinda cool.

Then she'd been dropped off at the airport, gotten a ticket stuffed into her hands, and that was that. No reason to get all dramatic and touchy-feely about it.

And now it was Saturday morning and she was on the airport. Sitting around. Chugging water and listening to her discman while watching the kids down the hall, trying to figure out how they were gonna croak. Sure, there was some kind of shuttle supposed to show up, but it wasn't there yet. A girl had to keep herself busy.

She figured the dweebs starting to mill around the terminal were probably classmates or something. Lame.

Anakin's mental shielding went up even higher than usual. "Doubtful," he replied. "Who are you?"

"Yes. There is isn't this, um, little thingy mine have. They lack. Shape. Um." She made some hand movements, as if trying to explain something too complicated for words. It was, actually, but she wasn't getting any closer to it by flailing. "My people blend in."

"Delirium, of the, um, Endless. Didi!" Aha, she remembered what was she doing there. "Have you seen Death?"

"Not since I was a student and gave a guy in a black cloak fashion advice," Anakin said with a tiny smile. "We have a student at the school named Didi, though."

That made Del tilt her head to a side. Fashion advice?

"That's my Didi, Death of the Endless, older sister!" And to say she was happy about it was minimizing her cheerfulness. "Where? wherewhere? Is she coming?"

"She's back at the school," Anakin replied. "Does she know you're coming?"

Delirium scratched her head. "Nnnnnnnnope? is that a bad, bad thing?" She didn't want to upset Didi, or anyone that knew her. Well, not everyone, since she knew a lot of people, but yeah, you get the point.

"Not at all," Anakin said. "I believe it's part of the island's...whimsy."

Like dropping two grandchildren and a daughter from different dimensions on him.

Oh, Del would have loved to know about that.

"I was, um, bored, so I tried to find her, and um, "

Well, it was all locked down tight because Anakin was unhelpful that way.

"Uh huh," Anakin said, not really understanding. "The bus is this way," he added, pointing.

"Uh huh!", answered Del as she ran at the bus, apparently getting the indirect. Or not?
