The History of the Zora; Monday, Fourth Period [07/19].

Well, Sidon was certainly feeling glad that he'd travelled back to the island earlier that morning to fit in a good swim around the ocean before his class, because otherwise, he would have been terribly late, and that wouldn't do! There was so much Zora history to be covered!

Er, well, technically, yes, there were tens of thousands of years of it, but they were just hitting on the highlights, which were much more...abridged. But no matter! The holes were gone, which meant that Sidon could actually squeeze into a classroom to teach and he might even have both of his students there to be taught! It was a wonderful day!

"Hello, my little junior Zora historians!" he greeted brightly, assuming neither of them were delayed too much, or, if they were, once they'd arrived and gotten settled because he certainly didn't mind waiting! "I hope you're ready for another...or, in some cases," he threw a wink out to Astrid, "your first...thrilling lesson in the spectacular history of my fierce and noble people! Today, we are going to talk about the great floods and the Rutala Dam, the East Reservoir Lake, and how they forged an alliance between the Zora and Hylians that is as strong and unbreakable as the dam itself!"

Well, some of the Zora Elders might like to have a word with the prince about just how breakable that alliance actually was these days, but those Elders could go stuff it in a sea shell, as far as Sidon was concerned!

Cut for MORE HISTORY! )

"And that," Sidon concluded, his eagerness somehow managing to have gained even more momentum through the whole store so that when he finished, his grin was as bright as ever, "is the story of the Rutala Dam and the East Reservoir Lake! Have you any questions? Do you have your own stories about floods or truces or impressive architetural dams in your histories to share? Let us share them, and not just," he chuckled a little, terribly amused by his own deft humor, "because there is still some time left to fill for our class!"

Adventures in Sheep Farming, Monday

"Right, so the last few weeks were a bloody farce, and I'll hear no more word spoken of them," said Edward. He was used to quite a bit at sea, but at least on a ship you could occasionally take a dip into the ocean instead of finding yourself stuck with a large set of bored, smelly pirates constantly.

... also, on the Jackdaw, he had his own cabin. That helped.

"Today we're back to sheep farming and why you should never become a bloody farmer," he said. "And I'm startin' you lot off kindly with the shearing, which is the least bloody terrible part of the job. And it's still bloody terrible."

He cleared his throat, and spoke louder. "First you're going to grab the sheep properly. Hook your thumb in its mouth and pull its head to the side, then put her down gently."

As gently as you could with those instructions, anyway. "You start trimmin' at the breast with these," he said, holding up a weird... scissors-like thing. "Then you roll the fleece gently towards the sheep's shoulder as you're cuttin'. Place one knee behind its back and hold her in place by putting your foot on the other side. Once you get everything up to the head, you put 'er on her rump and sheer the rest of it, movin' on to the back and then the other side."

Beat. "Easy as Hell'll never be, but boring. Don't feel ashamed if you find yourself wanting to tap out halfway into this dull endeavour. Now. The sheep!"

He turned around, and... a whole flock of rainbow sheep wandered into the Danger Shop pasture.

"Of course," he sighed.
